Collaborative Law
In representing clients and working hard to reach resolution by settlement that enables the parties to terminate their marriage by dissolution or uncontested divorce, there are different approaches that can be utilized in order to reach an agreement. These approaches are reviewed with in an initial in-office consultation in my office. One of the approaches that I often utilize is "collaborative law." This is a process whereby both of the parties and their attorneys commit, by written contract signed by the parties and their attorneys, to resolve their differences fairly and equitably without resort or threat of resort to the courts. If your spouse has retained or will consider retaining an attorney who is on the Collaborative Family Law Council of Central Ohio, we can proceed to work on the terms of an agreement in the "collaborative law process.' I will also add that if your spouse selects an attorney who is not a member, but the attorney will commit to the same process and terms, the case can proceed as a collaborative law case even if the attorney is not a member of this Council. Rather than restate everything here about collaborative law, I ask that you go to the web site,www.winwindivorce.org and review all of the material that is there. While I strongly encourage this process, not all types of cases or parties are good candidates for collaborative law.
